“Fostering employability and entrepreneurship for Egyptian youth and women in the Tourism sector”
Studying the Egyptian labour market in the tourism sector and the new skills demands

Athens Network of Collaborating Experts (ANCE) in collaboration with the Institute of the Greek Tourism Confederation (INSETE) and The Egyptian Association for Awareness and Comprehensive Development (EAACD) in the framework of the EU co-funded project “Fostering employability and entrepreneurship for Egyptian youth and women in the Tourism sector”, which is implemented in 5 regions of Egypt (Greater Cairo, Aswan, Dakahlia, Hughada), conducts a study on the labour market in the tourism sector and the new skills demands in the selected governorates.
The overall objective of this project is to improve the technical and management capacities of job seekers / unemployed, current workforce and potential entrepreneurs, specifically youth and women aged 18-30 in the specific governorates, with the aim of fostering employability and entrepreneurship in the tourism sector in the above mentioned areas.
The study of the labour market is consisted of two parts in order to ensure the trustworthiness of the study, the first one is based on secondary sources and literature review and the second one is based on primary research. In the context of the primary research the following steps have been developed and implemented: a) nine (9) appropriate questionnaires that were used during the primary research, b) the matrix that was used in order to gather the data from the interviews and focus groups, c) guidelines on how the interviews and the focus groups must be conducted and how the matrix should be completed, d) the template of action plan for the conduction of the focus groups and interviews, e) study’s outline, f) target groups (private companies, public entities, governmental bodies and NGOs) for the conduction of the research have been identified, g) the primary research was conducted within all the target groups.
After the realization of the primary research, its data have been analyzed and its results have been consolidated to the already finished study and recommendations. Also, during this period, the project information leaflet and the project logo have been developed.
