The RISE project develops an inclusive psychoeducational model designed to strengthen the mental health, resilience, and social integration of migrants and refugees in Spain and Greece. It promotes culturally sensitive well-being education by connecting psychosocial professionals, volunteers, and beneficiaries through structured learning experiences. The project aims to reduce stigma around mental health, empower vulnerable groups with coping tools, and foster community cohesion and empathy between host and migrant populations. RISE offers a replicable approach to psychoeducation that can be adapted to other European contexts facing similar integration challenges.
The project will run for eight months and combines psychoeducation workshops, individual counselling, and well-being activities—such as mindfulness and yoga—to enhance emotional regulation and stress management.
Core actions include the design and implementation of psychoeducational group and individual sessions in Athens and Barcelona; training local professionals and volunteers to deliver community-based support; and awareness-raising and dissemination campaigns highlighting the rights, experiences, and contributions of migrants and refugees. Digital tools such as Airtable will ensure effective cross-border coordination, monitoring, and evaluation. The project fosters collaboration between Associació Iguality Lab i Comunitat (Spain) and the Athens Network of Collaborating Experts (Greece), merging expertise in psychoeducation, social inclusion, and community empowerment. Through shared methodologies, the project strengthens participants’ self-awareness, social skills, and resilience while encouraging active citizenship and intercultural dialogue.
Target groups include migrants and refugees facing psychological distress due to displacement and adaptation challenges, as well as local volunteers and psychosocial professionals engaged in community integration.
Expected results include improved emotional well-being and self-efficacy among participants; a sustainable, transferable psychoeducation model for intercultural integration; enhanced civic engagement and empathy within host communities; and evidence-based recommendations promoting inclusive, community-driven mental health practices across Europe.
