On the 23nd of November ANCE attended an emotionally intense event, which exposed aspects of the harsh reality.
The event "Tales from the streets | Empowerment approaches to tackling homelessness! " was a regional action of the Active Citizens Fund Programme in Greece and Poland, with the Bodossaki Foundation and SolidarityNow as Grant Manager for Greece and the Stefan Batory Foundation as a member of the Consortium of Grant Managers for Poland.
During the event, the issue of homelessness in Greece and the groups of population that are most affected were analyzed, while the relevant work and actions of state agencies and street-work CSOs were presented. Participants from other countries shared good practices in dealing with homelessness and providing support to people experiencing it.
The testimonies of people who have experienced homelessness were compelling. They reminded us that we can all potentially find ourselves in this situation - for many different reasons.
Homeless people exist and should not remain invisible to the state and society. Stereotypes that follow them prevent them from being given a second chance in life, therefore they must be combated.
ANCE team will work with all its strength towards that direction.
