GUIDE – People skills for a competitive tourism (2015)

The project GUIDE – “People skills for a competitive tourism» focused on non-economically active people from the rural areas of Romania, including those who earn their living in the agriculture sector. The project matched the training level of human resources in rural areas with the skills required in tourism sector labor market.

The target group of the project was 250 people who come from Central and South East region of Romania.

Training sessions on various fields related to tourism such as mountain guide, boat guide, tour guide, entertainer leisure centers etc. were provided to the target group. 20 beneficiaries participated in a training course on entrepreneurship. At the end of this training a competition were held and 10 people who presented the most innovative business plans were granted in order to start their own business. These beneficiaries also participated in a study visit which was organized in Greece.

The project also included awareness activities as well as the establishment of an information center for the labor market inclusion of people living in rural areas of the country and support their business initiatives.

The project was funded by European Social Fund in the framework of Sectoral Operational Program Human Resources Development and the Government of Romania
