Professor Georgios Pavlidis was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of National and World Economy of Sofia and his PhD in Operational Research at the University of Sofia. He has worked at research institutes, finance institutions, software companies and other large private enterprises. Since 1984 he is a Professor in the Departments of Computer Engineering and Informatics and of Business Administration of the University of Patras. In the latter he was also President for two terms. Furthermore, he is the Director of the Information Systems and Business Intelligence Laboratory. Among his various research interests are: reengineering in combination with the development of ICT strategy, problems caused by the integration of information technologies in the social process, extracting know-how from existing business data, design and integration of advanced information environments, etc. He is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
